What you will do:
As a Park Ranger Assistant at LaPine State Park, you will assist year-round State Park staff in the protection, maintenance, operation and repair of state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment and systems.
In this role, you will perform a variety of park operational tasks such as:
janitorial work, landscape maintenance, safety, and visitor services.
Some work may require the most elementary skills in:
building trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and landscape maintenance.
Additionally, specialize skills in park maintenance and operations may be required.
On a task specific basis, you may guide the work of individuals or teams composed of volunteers, seasonal, and/or temporary state park employees.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Six (6) months of experience (paid or unpaid) performing public contact or customer service duties (e.
g.
Teacher, Customer Service Representative, Salesperson, Receptionist, etc.
) and/or maintenance experience (construction trades, landscaping, custodial, etc.
);OR Six (6) months of college in any discipline (24 quarter hours/16 semester hours); list hours under Education/Training History of the PD34 application.
Special Requirements:
To be hired, you must have a criminal records and driving records check that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment.
You must have a valid driver's license at the time of hire and throughout employment.

Experience providing exceptional customer service.
Experience using computerized registration equipment and programs.
Experience making change and preparing simple cash reconciliation reports.
Experience safely using tools, material and equipment associated with landscape and building maintenance.
Experience assisting with the performance of basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, grounds keeping tasks.
Ability to perform janitorial duties at a high level.
Ability to work in a team setting.
Experience in promoting a culturally competent and diverse work environment.

Please note:
Temporary employees are paid hourly.
The rate listed above reflects the salary rate.
Hourly rate for this position is $16.
29 an hour.
Temporary employees may be eligible for benefits depending on employment.
This position is represented by Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
This announcement may be used to fill future temporary vacancies as they occur.
The salary listed is at the non-PERS rate.
Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) eligible employees will have their base salary increased by 6.
95% and pay the 6.
95% employee contribution to PERS.
If you are not yet PERS eligible, the 6.
95% pay increase and employee contribution will be effective upon PERS eligibility.
